Make Your Home a Fall-Free Zone

For Stairway Safety...

  • Make sure carpet is firmly attached to steps.

  • Replace worn treads or carpeting.

  • Use nonskid paint on outside wooden steps.

  • Install light switches at top and bottom of stairs.

  • Install proper length handrails on both sides of stairway.

  • Keep objects off stairs.


In the Bathroom...

  • Use bathmats, or put textured, nonskid appliques on tub and shower floors.

  • Install nonskid carpet to floor.

  • Attach GRAB BARS to hold onto. Make sure they are attached securely to structural supports.

  • Don't use the edge of the tub as a step when getting in or out.
